NEW DELHI: New Delhi reacted sharply on Wednesday after Xi Jinping again supported Prime Minister Imran Khan in occupied Kashmir, just two days before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the host of the Chinese president for a "summit informal". <\/p>\n

President Xi told Prime Minister Khan during the talks in Beijing before the Chinese leader's meeting with Mr. Modi in Chennai on Friday and Saturday that Beijing was paying close attention to the Kashmir situation and that the facts were clear . Xinhua<\/em> reported the state news agency. <\/p>\n

In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India said: "India's position has been consistent and clear that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. China is very aware of our position. It is not for other countries to comment on the internal affairs of India. " <\/p>\n

Historically, ties between India and China have been irritating, and recent events around occupied Kashmir, particularly Beijing's diplomatic support for Islamabad at the United Nations, have increased tensions. <\/p>\n

"China sympathizes and supports the situation facing Pakistan in this regard [Kashmir] trouble. So, at present, the relationship between China and India has reached a very delicate point, \u201dsaid Cheng Xiaohe of the Department of International Policy at Renmin University. <\/p>\n

India's move in August to divide Jammu and Kashmir in two enraged not only Pakistan but also China because it will make the Ladakh state region a separate Indian administrative territory. <\/p>\n

China thundered in August that India "continued to undermine China's territorial sovereignty by unilaterally changing its domestic legislation."<\/p>\n
