Sometimes a smart strategy leads to a better strategy.

These two situations took place at UFC 243, Israel Adesanya changed his temporary title to an indisputable title and gave Robert Whittaker his first defeat for over five years. Finally, Whittaker's championship game consisted of two classic fights against the frightening Yoel Romero and a series of injuries, misery and disappointment that resulted in a decisive loss to the brightest new star in the MMA. It's more than a bit of heartbreak to see all of that potential and momentum vanish at once. It forces us to ask the same question that Whittaker should ask himself: where is it all wrong?

It was a thrilling fight. Robert Whittaker launched a brutal attack, throwing everything away with the intention of cleanly removing Stylebender's head. He knocked flat at the end of the first round and fell back and forth towards the end of the second round. It was over before Whittaker rose again.

What you took away from these events seems to depend on who you cheered for at that time, and two fighters that you personally designated as the main characters of UFC 243.

As a fighting fan (or people in general), we tend to be extremely attracted. Like me, if the outflow of online discourse has allowed you to wash you over the past few days, you would have concluded that there are only two logical interpretations of the big fights of last weekend. Robert Whittaker is not deadly ready. Israel's Adesanya once again proved to be the greatest warrior he lived and had to insult the fact that Anderson Silva was called the new Anderson Silva when he never existed anymore. Than Proto Adenaya

In fact, Adesanya has something in common with Anderson Silva: a keen eye on small tactical errors. Whittaker's fight on the other hand was pointless.

In the first exchange initiated by Whittaker, it was clear that the champion intended to put pressure on the challenger as often as possible. It's not a new strategy for those who are worried about Adesanya's forefoot building habits in pre-battle buildups. Adesanya was a very good kicker and Whittaker has historically been too vulnerable to kicking and could not set space or time.

Maintaining that pressure was a challenge in itself. Whittaker continued to attack, and whenever Adesanya tried to answer, Whittaker fought twice to get the last word in the exchange. This was also reasonable. When you want to back up someone, make sure the other person always reacts to you and not in the other direction.

So these were extensive strokes of meaningful game plans, but Robert Whittaker saw a narrow and intense blow. So we returned to the original question.

If Whittaker's strategic foundation of barely organized madness for eight minutes was really sound, he would have had trouble at the tactical level. One of the tactics we have already confirmed: Whittaker intends to start and conclude all exchanges.

Once again the core idea makes sense. Adesanya's reach, kicking power, and the ability to build and develop attacks through the fight against all incentived Whittaker backs him up and keeps him back. If Adesanya is the most consistent in the forefoot, then it is not less dangerous in the back. Adesanya's footing tends to get messy when forced to retreat, but once he has a chance to plant his feet he is a destructive counter punch. He is also a very organic fighter. He does not respond to rote combinations, and uses the eye to select each individual blow based on the presented opportunities. In other words, when Adesanya gave you the chance to respond, you can be sure that he will choose the perfect punch to throw you away.

He must be attacked layer Continual crime. The longer the salvo (the more time Izzy looks at the options and finds the scaffolding), the more complex the layers must be. Otherwise …

Let's look at the first knockdown.

Whittaker launches one of the typical long distance bleaches.

2. Adesanya pulls out the left ring of the counter and his ja is connected.

3. Miss the counter. Adesanya's arms are rolled behind Whittaker's head and are followed by her right hand.

4. Both of them throw their right hand. Adesanya manages to touch Whittaker's chin with the uppercut, a natural companion to the counter-cut hook, and in the process to miss the better part of Whittaker's overhand.

5. No one is in a particularly healthy position now, but Adesanya is at least heading for Whittaker. Nevertheless, Whittaker is still focused on the attack. Again comes the right hand of …

6. … This time the Whittaker never comes up.

Firstly, this counter is very interesting. Strange The first punch is arguably an authentic left hook. Lead hand shot. But the next two right hands (uppercuts and rings) are not actually thrown in the orthodox position. Usually the uppercut following the left hook comes from the backhand, but Robert Whittaker starts caraming to the right due to the momentum of the attack and Israel Adesanya returns with him. It's not pivot support, Without actually moving his feet like a tank turret that keeps a moving target in sight, Adesanya essentially knocks Whittaker down with two right hands thrown from left-handed.

Israel Adeniah is a fairly long way of saying that he has a unique trick to make it every time he follows.

Jumping into this fight, preemptive defense was one of Whittaker's greatest strengths. He always tends to breathe recklessly against his opponent, but he has a place to defend himself after throwing. Ade Sanya, who had a tendency for the scaffold to retreat, thought that it would be dangerous only after the foot was reset. At that critical moment, Whittaker's defense was key.

But Whittaker was not content with simply starting and defending. Perhaps he thought that by doing so Ade Sagna could regain control and build up momentum. Or Robert, who wants to put leather on his chin, is frustrated with Stylebender's slippery defenses and has developed a tunnel vision. There are no other middleweight moves like Adesanya. Whittaker wasn't the first to discover novelty. In any case, Whittaker preferred an increasingly long and aggressive combination to evade general defense responsibilities. Each clean strike was another tougher and more desperate. Ade Sanya rejoiced at him, saying, “Just trying to fight me.”

The last exchange of fights followed that became a familiar pattern. Whittaker commits excessively after connecting with ja and attempting to follow up. The biggest damage you can say about poor performance is that it hasn't changed at all. Whittaker may have discovered a new weapon and how to use it in the third round, but after eight minutes Adesanya often had one or two steps ahead.

1. Whittaker and Adesanya Square are in the middle of Octagon.

2. Adesanya begins to move forward. Whether he is covering his right hand or simply stunned quickly plunders …

3. … through this window of Whittaker. Adesanya's head flies backwards, but his feet are well trimmed.

4. Whittaker tries to follow his right hand while Adesanya finds the check hook. The two miss, but Adesanya keeps stepping down and Whittaker's position is broken.

5. Adesanya's cuff ring right ring raises Whittaker's posture further.

6. Whittaker has a clear view on Adesanya's chin, which still leans almost comical. Nevertheless, Whittaker's centerline is wide open and Adesanya's posture looks straight down at him. They proceed to the left ring deal.

7. With a short distance, Adesanya's left ring lands perfectly at the jaw point before Whittaker releases his hand. Whittaker collapses because there is no foundation to absorb shock.

You should give Israel Adeniah his full deadline. I have mentioned his kickboxing creativity many times. But what stands out is fluid and organic does not imply that his victory is the product of a gift that is innate. Earlier, he also mentioned that it was not particularly dangerous when Whittaker moved forward, but after Adesanya found the opportunity to choose a punch, he was in danger. In his previous UFC fight, Adesanya did not see a particularly comfortable counter ring at the "simultaneously" counter.

But as with the first example, here you can see the easy-to-left counter throwing a ring on the counter. Indeed, throughout the Adesanya competition, everything has not been characteristically determined to fight Whittaker. I must assume that tactics are prepared specifically for this fight. While Whittaker was dedicated to a straight line attack, counter-hooks often thrown by pivots did not always land cleanly. Nevertheless, they prevented Whittaker's explosive entry and often helped him to lose balance. Adesanya picked up a fine hole wherever Whittaker left and was able to shape his usual counter on the back of such a shot. Both knockdowns only saw Adesanya miss the same time hook counter.

Nevertheless, Whittaker (or perhaps more active and less often injured), thinking more defensive, was able to counter Adesanya's layer as his own.

After all, “Where's wrong?” Can lead us so far. Like Robert Whittaker, we recommend turning your eyes forward. Returning to the second part, I will figure out what Whittaker did better or what he could do differently in a rematch.

Sometimes good intentions have bad consequences.
