Former Dawn<\/em> The city's editor, Abul Hasanat, breathed for the last time on Saturday in Karachi.<\/p>\n His funeral prayers will be held on Sunday in Masjid-e-Khair-ul Bashar, Block J, North Nazimabad, after the prayers of Zuhr.<\/p>\n Leave a wife, a son and three daughters.<\/p>\n He graduated from the University of Karachi in 1973 with a degree in history, philosophy and international relations. <\/p>\n He worked as a journalist in Dawn<\/em> from 1995 to 2010, during which he served as city editor and senior editorial advisor. In 2011, he joined The Express Tribune<\/em>, where he served as editorial consultant to date.<\/p>\n His father, Abul Akhyar, was also a senior journalist.<\/p>\n Hasanat placed great value on objectivity while reporting, saying once he did not understand how a journalist could write a story with his conscience. <\/p>\n \u201cA piece of news must be written objectively. Is there any concept of dishonesty in journalism? I remember a judge telling someone who wrote decisions based on "facts" and not "conscience."
