ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court decided on Thursday to set up a special bank for the implementation of its 2014 ruling on the protection of minority rights and the promotion of a culture of religious and social tolerance.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, a three-judge Supreme Court bank, headed by Judge Umar Ata Bandial, referred the matter to the president of the court, Asif Saeed Khosa, for his consideration of establishing the implementation bank.<\/p>\n

The SC bank examined a case related to the rights of minorities and requested federal and provincial governments to submit monthly reports to the court that would highlight the measures taken to guarantee the rights of minorities.<\/p>\n

Additional Advocate General for Punjab Chaudhry Faisal Hussain represented the province.<\/p>\n

The 2014 verdict was seen as a basis for curbing intolerance and intolerance in society.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The verdict came in a suo motu initiated the unfortunate bomb attack of the church of Peshawar on September 22, 2013 in which 81 people died.<\/p>\n

The 32-page ruling had also highlighted the need to promote a culture of religious and social tolerance by developing appropriate curricula at the school and university level, in addition to constituting a working group to develop a religious tolerance strategy and establish a Special police force with professional training to protect the places of worship of minorities.<\/p>\n

He requested the establishment of a national council for the rights of minorities, which should be responsible for overseeing the practical realization of the rights and safeguards granted to minorities under the Constitution and the law.<\/p>\n

The council must also have the mandate to frame policy recommendations to safeguard and protect the rights of minorities by the federal and provincial governments.<\/p>\n

The ruling was clear in ordering federal and provincial governments to ensure compliance with policy directives regarding the reservation of quotas for minorities in all services.<\/p>\n

Referring to the desecration of minority places of worship, the sentence regretted that such incidents could be avoided if the authorities involved had taken preventive measures at the appropriate time.<\/p>\n

The inaction by law enforcement agencies was due to lack of proper understanding of the relevant law, according to the ruling.<\/p>\n

The verdict also regretted the general lack of awareness about minority rights among people and law enforcement officials were also not fully sensitized on this issue. "It is necessary to reiterate that according to the Constitution minorities have a special status," the verdict emphasized.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the leader of the PTI, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, informed the higher court that none of the minorities had been appointed president of the Evacuados Trust Property Board, against the previous directives of the court, and added that still 15 to 23 members of the ETPB were Muslims.<\/p>\n

However, the court told Dr. Vankwani that being in the government should have fulfilled the demands through the government.<\/p>\n

During the hearing, Judge Bandial observed that the Kartarpur Corridor was a great development, adding that everyone had the right to worship according to their religion.<\/p>\n
