It's a little after noon in Karachi. Mother Sun is in a bad mood. She is more angry than usual. They all shine but nobody has moved an inch in 30 minutes, probably even 40. Who is counting anyway? Everyone is too busy melting.<\/p>\n
If the word stop had a visual definition, it would be University Road. After the recent outbreak of rains, the road began to look more like a dirt road, but that is a debate for another day.<\/p>\n
For now, the scene has thousands of travelers trapped on the fringe at the mercy of nature, with each face dripping telling their own story of being late somewhere.<\/p>\n
All this because some men of an island in the south could play ball with some locals in a nearby fortress in a situation close to the curfew.<\/p>\n
Despite the direction this preamble seems to be taking, it is not my agenda to imply that cricket is not played on these coasts, even if it requires blockages and makes the lives of so many miserable. Beggars cannot choose and, unfortunately, after what happened in 2009, we have no other choice.<\/p>\n
To repair the bad reputation and bring international cricket to Pakistan, it is absolutely necessary to adopt such security protocols. <\/p>\n
And what about the unfortunate people who live around the National Stadium? <\/p>\n
On game days, they are not allowed to use certain routes to their own homes. In some cases, homeowners cannot enter their own balconies just because it is seen directly in the stadium and could be a security threat.<\/p>\n
These are extraordinary sacrifices that hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis are giving, mainly involuntarily, to make sure that the Sri Lankan team stays here comfortable.<\/p>\n It is common for all high-level athletes around the world to enjoy celebrity status and receive VVIP treatment wherever they go. The visiting team from Sri Lanka must have received that treatment elsewhere. But the importance they are getting in Pakistan is unprecedented for any set of athletes anywhere.<\/p>\n From the night of September 24, when they stepped on Karachi until October 10, when they leave Lahore, these 17 men from various parts of Sri Lanka will be the 17 most important men in Pakistan. Do they know it?<\/p>\n And even if the Pakistan Cricket Board insists that it is not paying anything to Sri Lanka for their visit, their visit is actually being paid in tears, sweat and blood by the children trapped in their vans, men who cannot reach its offices on time, patients who need medical attention and many more.<\/p>\n If it were not for the PCB or the love for the game, then for the thousands of commoners, this team from Sri Lanka and other nations should realize that on this earth, cricket is considered worth making their life a hell.<\/p>\n How can you then deprive these crazy cricketers of what they so long for?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/pre>\n<\/pre>\n Source: https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1508556\/what-the-sri-lankan-team-doesnt-know-about-pakistan<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" It's a little after noon in Karachi.
