The first one-day international match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka that was supposed to take place on Friday was suspended due to heavy rains in Karachi.<\/p>\n
According to officials, the time limit for the game (the time until the game can be delayed according to the rules) was at 8:30 pm, but it was suspended at 4:30 pm, as it became clear that it would be impossible for staff to drain the rainwater thrown into the field by a massive thunderstorm that hit a couple of hours before the match began.<\/p>\n
The rainwater affected the field and the stadium field, authorities said.<\/p>\n
This was the first time a match was suspended in the stadium due to the rain. The stadium has hosted 47 games since 1980.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the PCB announced that the second ODI between the two parties has been rescheduled from Sunday, September 29 to Monday, September 30.<\/p>\n
"The two boards made a decision to allow the ground staff to prepare the open field of the National Stadium for next week's game," said the PCB. <\/p>\n
He added that the heavy rains this week, including Friday afternoon, left the garden soaked, and the gardeners required at least two full days to prepare the ground for cricket.<\/p>\n
The PCB also announced that tickets sold for Friday, September 27 will be valid for the game on September 30 or October 2, while tickets sold for the game on September 29 could also be used for the ODI on September 30 September or October 2. <\/p>\n
According to the PCB ticket issuance policy for the series, the PCB will also allow reimbursement of all tickets for Friday's game. It was also agreed that Sunday ticket holders who cannot attend Monday's game will also receive full refunds.<\/p>\n
Tickets for the second rescheduled ODI on Monday will also be available online and at dedicated TCS counters.<\/p>\n
A day earlier, Pakistan's employer Sarfaraz Ahmed thanked the Sri Lankan team for visiting Pakistan and urged other foreign boards to also reconsider their approach to Pakistan. <\/p>\n
He had said that international cricket is incomplete without Pakistan.<\/p>\n
"Pakistan has sent a clear message and now is the time for other boards to reconsider their approach to playing in Pakistan. Being a team and a nation, I request that all boards support cricket in Pakistan," he told a news conference at Karachi while talking about some international players who reportedly accused India of forcing them not to visit Pakistan.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/pre>\n<\/pre>\n
