A Pakistani army soldier was martyred after Indian troops resorted to "unprovoked" shots from the other side of the control line in the Hajipir sector of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Public Relations Services (ISPR) said Thursday ).<\/p>\n
The soldier was identified by the military media wing as Sepoy Ghulam Rasool, who came from Bahawalnagar.<\/p>\n
According to media reports, Indian troops attacked the same sector with intermittent shelling on Monday. However, no losses were reported at that time.<\/p>\n
Earlier on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO) had called on the Indigenous Affairs Officer Gaurav Ahluwalia to present a protest against the "ceasefire violations not provoked" by the Indian army.<\/p>\n
According to a statement issued by the FO, the Director General (SA & SAARC), Dr. Mohammad Faisal, urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire agreement. He said the Indian side should allow UNMOGIP to play its role. mandatory according to the resolutions of the UN Security Council.<\/p>\n
The statement had said that in the latest ceasefire violations on Sept. 6 in the Khuiratta sector of the LoC, Indian forces had deliberately targeted innocent civilian participants of peaceful demonstrations organized to show solidarity with the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir For the Indians. Four civilians suffered serious injuries in that incident.<\/p>\n
Shooting incidents throughout the LoC occur as tensions remain high between India and Pakistan over the movement of the former to revoke the special autonomy of occupied Kashmir.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/pre>\n<\/pre>\n
