Two-time ICC Trophy-winning captain Rohit Sharma hopes the recent achievements of the Indian men’s and women’s teams in winning the ICC Trophy are "just the beginning”. Rohit welcomed the men’s team after they recently won their third T20 World Cup and finished second in a row in Ahmedabad on March 8. This was four months after the women’s team lifted their first ODI World Cup in Navi Mumbai.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

"There is no secret to success. It all comes down to hard work,” Rohit said in Mumbai on Saturday. \u201cInternational cricketers – men and women – work really hard to achieve what they have achieved. Of course, there are so many people behind the scenes who put in so much effort into that success, as well as the players on the field, so there are a lot of people and personnel who deserve credit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

"I’m very happy and proud to see what we’ve seen over the last few years – not only the men’s team but also the women’s team – to win the World Cup in Mumbai and achieve what we’ve achieved. And what the men’s team did recently to win the T20 World Cup was phenomenal. And I hope this is just the beginning and there’s no need to look back from here. About the momentum in cricket – both the men’s and women’s teams have, and all I hope is that we carry on that momentum.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rohit himself led India to 2024 T20 World Cup glory in June 2024 and the Champions Trophy title in March 2025, marking the start of India’s streak of lifting ICC titles. Additionally, India’s Under-19 teams (both men’s and women’s) also won their last World Cup. While the U-19 men’s team only won the trophy last month under Zimbabwe coach Ayush Matre, the U-19 women’s team won the trophy in 2025 under Malaysian coach Nikki Prasad.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

India’s next ICC tournament will be the Women’s T20 World Cup, which begins in England on June 12. India has been drawn in Group 1 along with Pakistan, Netherlands, Bangladesh, South Africa and Australia.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
