We engaged in very fruitful discussions to expand our trade and economic partnership.&#8221;<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"4\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"6\"\/>Gor also called the meeting &quot;productive,&#8221; adding, &quot;A highly productive lunch&#8230;so many areas of cooperation for our two nations!&#8221;<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"8\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"10\"\/>Earlier this week, Goyal had said trade talks between the two countries would resume once there was greater clarity, after the US Supreme Court invalidated President Donald Trump&#8217;s tariffs.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"14\"\/>India and the United States agreed in early February on an initial framework to reduce US tariffs on Indian exports from 50 percent to 18 percent. In return, India indicated plans to buy US products worth $500 billion over five years. The agreement aimed to formalize a first phase while discussions continued towards a broader bilateral trade agreement.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"16\"\/> However, the US Supreme Court recently invalidated Trump&#8217;s emergency tariffs, creating more negotiating space for India. In response, India postponed a planned delegation trip to Washington that was aimed at finalizing the interim agreement, although it is not reconsidering the agreement itself.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"20\"\/> Analysts note that India can now push for safeguards against future unilateral judicial or tariff actions, while also seeking to maintain trade ties and manage domestic energy and economic priorities. Trump has signaled that the United States will continue to charge India tariffs and called the deal \u201cfair\u201d under his revised approach.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"23\"\/> Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has called it premature to comment on the full impact of the ruling, while Indian officials are cautiously assessing next steps to protect trade interests without
