                          In 2013, after retiring from the post of Bangalore district commissioner, he joined the Indian National Congress (INC) as a member. However, in 2014, K. Shivaram left INC and joined Janata Dal (Secular) as a member. He contested the Legislative Assembly election from Bijapur constituency but lost the election to Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Ramesh Jigajinagi.<\/p>\n
