The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced Thursday that player Shaheen Afridi will no longer participate in the preseason camp since he has become ill due to dengue.<\/p>\n
"Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been excluded from increased participation in the preseason camp after being diagnosed with dengue," reads a press release issued by the PCB.<\/p>\n
"Shaheen was admitted to a local hospital yesterday and is under the treatment of specialists."<\/p>\n
According to the statement, the fate of opener Fakhar Zaman is still unclear, as he underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
"Zaman has yet to resume his training at the camp due to an injury to his right knee," the press release said.<\/p>\n
"Their explorations will now be examined by the PCB Medical Advisory Panel," the statement said, adding that the decision on their participation in the camp will be taken based on the MRI report.<\/p>\n
The pre-season training camp began at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on August 20. <\/p>\n
Camp participants undergo field drills and network sessions, along with physical activities and other cricket activities. The camp was created to prepare players for a competitive and challenging national and international cricket season, which is expected to begin with the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Trophy on September 12.<\/p>\n
In addition to 31 first-class games of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and the number of national white ball matches in relation to the T20 National Cup and the Pakistan Cup one-day tournament, Pakistan's cricket team is scheduled to play six tests of the World Test Championship, three ODI and nine T20I in the next season.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/pre>\n<\/pre>\n
