The company claims to lie to customers about &quot;unlimited&quot; data plans because they have limited written data above certain thresholds. <\/p>\n<p id=\"2J7biL\">The agreement requires AT &amp; T to deposit $ 60 million to provide &quot;partial refunds&quot; to customers who have subscribed to an unlimited data plan before 2011 (at the time the company&#39;s restriction policy was first implemented). In addition, the company will not be able to develop a marketing plan at the proposed rate or amount of data without disclosing the limitations that the plan may have.<\/p>\n<p id=\"fXIZoL\">For example, if an AT &amp; T website advertises an unlimited data plan, but slows down after consumers reach certain data limits, AT &amp; T should reveal these restrictions noticeably and clearly. Say FTC.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-float-right\">\n<aside id=\"P9rI1q\"><q>&quot;The problem is simple here. &amp; # 39; unlimited &amp; # 39; means unlimited.&quot;<\/q><\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"simq91\">The Tuesday settlement resolves the FTC&#39;s 2014 lawsuit. At the time, the agency complained about how AT &amp; T allocates data plans to consumers and how much data it should allocate each month. \u201cAT &amp; T has promised clients # 39; unlimited &amp; # 39; data and in many cases failed to fulfill that promise,\u201d former FTC chairman Edith Ramirez said in 2014, \u201cThe problem is simple.<\/p>\n<p id=\"hPh2NQ\">An AT &amp; T spokeswoman said, \u201cIt&#39;s been a few years since I applied this network management tool in the way that FTC described, but I think this is the biggest advantage for consumers. <em>Virgin<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"qpnR3E\">In the summer of 2015, the Federal Communications Commission fined AT &amp; T $ 100 million for similar fraud marketing practices involving data planning.
