LAHORE:<\/strong> The Lahore High Court (LHC) today will present a verdict on the bail conviction filed by Maryam Nawaz, vice president of Pakistan's Muslim League-Nawaz, in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM) case.<\/p>\n

The High Court bench, consisting of Judge Ali Bakarnaza and Judge Sarmad Ahmad Naim, ruled on 31 October the petitioner and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) claims.<\/p>\n

Maryam approached LHC to seek detention after his arrest, which was investigated by NAHC on September 30. After her father Nawaz Sharif's health deteriorated suddenly, she filed another petition on October 24th asking for immediate bail, based on "basic rights" and "humanitarian reasons."<\/p>\n

Two-person LHC bench, consisting of Judge Ali Baqar Najafi and Judge Sardar Ahmad Naeem, heard a petition Thursday.<\/p>\n

In the proceedings, NAB prosecutor Jahanzaib Bharwana opposed Maryam's request for bail on humanitarian grounds and said: "No special qualifications."<\/p>\n

\u201cThe supervisor allowed Maryam Nawaz to see her father. [according to her wishes]Bharwana said.<\/p>\n

In a previous appeal, the court asked Maryam's lawyer if he was authorized to meet his ailing father Nawaz Sharif, whose lawyer Azam Nazir Tarar responded positively.<\/p>\n

Last week, Nawaz entered Medical Sciences Services (SIMS) after a personal physician raised an alarm about worsening health. He is now hospitalized.<\/p>\n

Bharwana added that Maryam \u201cplayed an important role in money laundering\u201d and that a large amount was transferred to the petitioner from the account opened by CSM.<\/p>\n

NAB suspects that Maryam was involved in money laundering through variable mass investment, the main shareholder of CSM. She claimed that during the 1992-93 years when her father Nawaz Sharif was prime minister, he was involved in money laundering with the help of some foreigners.<\/p>\n

The court received information that Maryam could not provide a satisfactory answer to NAB's inquiries about its CSM stake. She also couldn't explain how she got the money to set up Shamim Sugar Mills, Bharwana said.<\/p>\n

The lawyer said the PML-N vice president had not filed tax returns for years and suspected that he owned assets beyond known means.<\/p>\n

Maryam and her cousin Yousaf Abbas were arrested by NAB on 8 August. Later on September 26, they were imprisoned in prison for judicial ruling by the responsible court in Lahore.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/pre>\n<\/pre>\n
