The Google Pixel 4 is an impressive phone with some state-of-the-art software features, but it's disappointing because of limited battery life. The Pixel 4 XL offers some health, but it doesn't last as long as you want. Battery life is not the only problem that has occurred for both these phone owners. We ran into some other Pixel 4 issues and found the most commonly reported issues in the help forum. However, we do not file a complaint here, but also explain how to solve these problems or, if possible, how to solve them.

No matter what happens, the first thing to try is a software update. Connected to Wi-Fi and have a quick look. Settings> System> Advanced> System Updates, after that Check for updates Install all available updates.

Problem: battery life is low

Let's fix it right away. The battery life of the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL is disappointing. There is no solution for this. Google should have put bigger batteries in these two phones, but there are many ways that don't matter. We do not recommend all these operations, but turning off the ones that are not worth it can drain your battery a lot.

Resolution :

We don't have to compromise and don't like to care about functionality, so before reading, buy a portable portable charger, a quick charger, and a wireless charging pad for your desk and stand to keep your Pixel 4. Filled up.

Pixel 4 should do a good job of limiting apps that you don't use a lot, thanks to the adaptive battery. Settings> Battery> Adaptive Battery — But the better way is to review the entire app and games list on your phone and remove the ones you don't need.

For security reasons, it's sometimes a good idea to review app permissions, but there may also be battery benefits. move Settings> Apps & Notifications> Advanced> Permissions Manager Revoke permissions that you think your app doesn't really need. Pay special attention location And reduce the number of apps Always allowed.

Google's new Air Gestures can be useful, but the Pixel 4 pays attention to nearby movements, which definitely affects battery life. If you don't fascinate them anyway Settings> System> Motion Detection And turn off.

turn on Dark theme pass Settings> Display. The Pixel 4 has an OLED screen where the pixels turn on individually, so most of the time the battery won't run out unless it's turned on. On a dark background, less power is required.

The 90Hz refresh rate is one of my favorites on the Pixel 4, but it's undoubtedly a lot of battery usage. move Settings> Display> Advanced> Smooth Display You can switch

Adjust more display settings. I haven't covered it yet, and there are three things that can help you access it through everyone. Settings> Display. Shrink first Screen timeout As long as you can Show lock screen Confirm always Then turn it off Styles and wallpapersChoose a static and mostly dark desktop.

turn on Battery saver. Via the notification window or Settings> Battery> Battery Saver. Limit background updates, remove visual effects, stop location collection and other background app activity, stop listening to "Ok, Google" Dark theme. Maybe you don't always want this Schedule setting Find options to trigger automatically at a specific battery percentage or based on your daily routine. This routinely takes into account when to charge your Pixel 4 and determines when to turn it on. The power is not low.

You can find some additional ideas in common smartphone battery tips.

Annoying: Apps that can be accessed with your fingerprint will not work with Face Unlock.

One of the irritating drawbacks to the new face unlocks of the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL is that many apps do not yet accept biometric authentication. The banking app you used to open with a fingerprint scan on your Pixel 3 can now claim that you need to enter your full password on your Pixel 4. This applies to numerous banking apps and other apps like PayPal and Starbucks.

Sadly, there's nothing else you can do. Developers need to update their apps to support our new API. We contacted the bank app and asked when to update, and most of the answers weren't very encouraging. It's a good idea to tell your bank that you want to speed it up, but it may actually take months before we add support.

Concerns: eyes closed face unlock function

Some people are concerned that someone can grab the Pixel 4 to sleep and unlock it. Closing your eyes will also work with Face Unlock. Google releases an update with the option to specify that you need to open your eyes for face unlock to work. There are a few workarounds you can try until then.

Resolution :

Use a PIN, pattern, or password instead. You can set them Settings> Security.

With lock mode, press and hold the power button lock If you're worried about someone trying to unlock your phone against your will, it will quickly unlock biometrics. You can activate the lock mode through Settings> Display> Advanced> Show Screen Lock Where to turn on Lock display option. Will turn your Pixel 4 back to your PIN, password, or pattern unlock.

Problem: white balance and color lights

Thankfully, this will not affect most people. According to a Reddit post collected by some sites, the Pixel 4 camera has a problem with color lighting, tries to correct the shot with extreme colors, and eventually replaces it with another inaccurate color. . There is also a thread in our support forum that asks for manual white balance control again. There is no workaround for this, but we can adjust the rollout in future updates.

Resolution :

There are no problems with RAW image files, so open the camera app and go to settings Many, advanced, elapsed Turn on RAW + JPEG control. This saves the RAW files individually so you can export them to work on your PC or use apps like Snapseed on Pixel 4.

Bug: Click sound on recorded video from third party app

Some Pixel 4 owners are having a weird problem with background click noise in videos recorded in apps like Instagram and Snapchat. There are threads in the Google support forums and Reddit. Some people describe it as a bouncing sound or a metronome, but it seems to only happen when recording video using a third-party app, not when recording video in a standard camera app. I could not reproduce this problem and it is not clear how widespread the problem is.

Resolution :

Record video using your default camera app.

Potential fix:

Make sure you are up to date with Settings> System> Advanced> System Updates, after that Check for updates. Open the Play Store app and tap the 3 horizontal lines in the top left corner My apps and games and Update all.

Problem: motion detection does not work

If you are having trouble activating motion detection gestures, you are not alone. There's a bit of a problem, but some people also reported other issues as discussed in the XDA developer forum. Motion Sense doesn't work everywhere. Currently only available in the United States, Canada, Singapore, Australia, Taiwan, and most of Europe.

Potential fixes:

Go to and start Settings> System> Motion Detection Make sure it's turned on. Tap individual options here to see animations that show you exactly which gesture to use. Assuming it is already on, turn it off and then on again.

Restart your Pixel 4 or 4 XL while holding down the power button. Restart.

If your Pixel 4 or Pixel 4 XL has a case or screen saver, remove the case or screen saver and test the gesture again.

Annoyance: smooth display is not always on

To reduce the impact on the battery, a revelation has been made that the Pixel 4 and 4 XL's screens do not continuously use a 90 Hz refresh rate. The 90Hz refresh rate can only be turned on when the brightness of the screen is above 75{7be40b84a6a43fc4fae13304fce9a2695859798abfc41afd127b9f8b21c5f9c5}. Google has said it will release an update to allow higher refresh rates to work at different screen brightness levels, but it's not yet clear what it will look like.

Possible modifications:

You can have your Pixel 4 display always run at 90Hz while waiting for an update to open more options or change its behavior. move Settings> Phone Info And Build number Unlock seven times from bottom Developer options. Now Settings> System > Developer options There is a label labeled Options Forced 90 Hz Refresh Rate. Tap then turn it on. However, the battery runs down quickly.

 Editors' Picks

Google's performance on new launches is recommended to wait a few weeks before buying a new pixel phone.
