Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) said Wednesday that internet services have been fully restored, one day after Pakistan faced a nationwide disruption following a failure in its submarine cables.<\/p>\n

In a statement from the PTCL spokesperson, the company regretted any inconvenience caused by the interruption of services. <\/p>\n

A spokesman for the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) also confirmed the restoration of internet services, adding that SEAMEWE 4 was restored at 1:35 a.m.<\/p>\n

in a Send<\/a> Shared on Twitter on Tuesday, PTCL had said: "We regret to inform you that due to the international failure of the submarine cable, internet services are affected throughout Pakistan."<\/p>\n

"Our technical teams are working to completely restore Internet services. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thanks for your patience."<\/p>\n

According to ProPakistani<\/em>, two submarine cables had been disconnected, disrupting the Internet in the country.<\/p>\n

"IMEWE and SEAMEWE 4, which carry almost 50 percent of Pakistan's Internet traffic, were disconnected due to a fault in a location that has not yet been determined," he said.<\/p>\n

Internet users across the country would experience reduced speeds until the fault is resolved, ProPakistani<\/em> He had informed, adding that, Internet service providers were "in the process of moving the cargo to other underwater systems, which will balance the load to some extent."<\/p>\n

In a post shared on Twitter, PTCL clarified today that the AAE1 submarine cable "was never idle" during the cut. They added that some had reported this wrong.<\/p>\n

There was also an Internet outage earlier this year, in June, when services were interrupted due to "multiple cable cuts."<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
