The Punjab government on Monday presented the Supreme Court of Lahore (LHC) against the acquittal of suspects in the Sahiwal shooting incident in which part of the staff of the Department of Fight against Terrorism (CTD) of the Punjab Police had killed shot four people, including three from the same family. .<\/p>\n
On Thursday, an anti-terrorism court acquitted the six CTD staff members accused of killing the four people, including a woman and a minor, in Sahiwal. Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta gave the accused staff the benefit of the doubt.<\/p>\n
Following the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Punjab government announced Friday that it will file an appeal against the ATC verdict.<\/p>\n
Punjab's additional prosecutor, Abdul Samad Khan, filed the appeal today, raising objections about the release of the suspects. The Punjab government argued that either the investigation of the case was in the wrong direction or that the witnesses changed their statements. <\/p>\n
The provincial government asked the court to revoke the decision of the special court and take action against those responsible for the faulty investigation in the case and those who changed their statements.<\/p>\n
In January, Mohammad Khalil, his wife and their three children were traveling in a car, with their neighbor Zeeshan behind the wheel, when CTD staff stopped the vehicle and opened fire on passengers who suspected they were terrorists. Khalil's two sons, Umair and Muneeba, had survived the attack.<\/p>\n
The suspects said they had information that Zeeshan had ties to a terrorist team. They also claimed that all the victims were killed in a "meeting" that turned out to be false after the two younger children told the public about the incident.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/pre>\n<\/pre>\n
