KARACHI: On Thursday, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) issued detailed instructions to facilitate Pakistanis abroad to access their bank accounts.<\/p>\n
Under the new agreement, overseas Pakistanis can now approach their respective banks by email or surface mail and provide identity documents such as a valid passport, visa, CNIC and national identity card for overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) as an arrangement Alternative for biometric verification to operate your bank accounts as always.<\/p>\n
Pakistan has faced a difficult situation with regard to financial transactions that the international vigilante thoroughly analyzes to control the financing of terrorism and money laundering.<\/p>\n
The control agency has also placed Pakistan on a gray list of countries with deficiencies against money laundering \/ combating terrorist financing (AML \/ CFT).<\/p>\n
The government has promised to take all necessary measures to get off the gray list, which must be submitted in February next year.<\/p>\n
Few Pakistani abroad said Dawn<\/em> that due to the biometric verification condition, their bank accounts were suspended and they could not even send remittances.
