Riteish Deshmukh Sonakshi Sinha and Saqib Saleem start shooting for horror-comedy Kakuda. Actors Riteish Deshmukh, Sonakshi Sinha, and Saqib Saleem began filming Kakuda for horror-comedy filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar on Tuesday. The film is shot in Gujarat. Ronnie Screwvala’s banner RSVP has released a “Homemade Horror Comedy” on social media platforms.
They said, “Triple Trouble!👻 Prepare for a creepy laughter riot with our own digital film #Kakuda! Start shooting today🎬”
Kakuda is also the Hindi directorial debut of The Man Behind the critically acclaimed Marathi films such as Classmates, Mauli and Faster Fine.
Speaking of the film, Sardar said: “I am very happy to work with Ronnie Skrubala. We treat it like a big commercial movie.
The casting was perfect and the story will have you both with the edge of the seat and the split.”
Shinhan Son Nak-shi expressed his excitement for horror-comedy and said, “Considering the current situation, an interesting comedy movie is urgently needed. From the moment I read it, I liked Kakuda’s script. It’s a movie I want to see as an audience.”
Riteish Deshmukh added: “I want to jump in quickly and work on a film with Sonakshi and Saqib. I personally love the horror-comedy genre, and ‘Kakuda’ is a great opportunity to explore some of the ghostbusters.”
Calling the movie a fun ride, Saqib Saleem said: ‘Kakuda’ will be a fun ride.”
Producer Ronnie Screwvala, who funded films such as Vidya Balan’s Natkhat, Priyanka Chopra, and Farhan Akhtar’s The Sky is Pink, said: With a solid script, an extremely talented cast, and a moving director, I want to break the boundaries of the genre,” he said.
The film’s synopsis reads: “Kakuda uses comedy and creepiness equally to explore a strange cursed legend in a town stuck in time. The eclectic trio rides a rollercoaster full of fear and fun, confronting a challenging ghost that makes you question superstition, tradition, and even love.”
The film was written by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg and developed from the ground up by the film’s co-producer, Salona Bains Joshi. Kakuda connects directly digitally and is expected to launch in early 2022.
