World’s Largest Aircraft Lands in Karachi

World’s largest aircraft lands in Karachi. KARACHI: The world’s largest cargo aircraft, known as the Antonov An-225 Mriya, made a technical stop at Karachi Airport on Wednesday.

Powered by six turbofan engines, the Russian-made wide-body aircraft is the longest and heaviest plane ever built, taking off from Afghanistan and landing at Jinnah International Airport just before noon.

With a maximum take-off weight of 700 tonnes, it has the largest wingspan of any aircraft in service.

An airport source said the plane was scheduled to depart from Karachi in the early hours of Thursday morning. They said the aircraft contained military cargo being transported from Afghanistan as part of a US withdrawal plan and coalition forces from a war-torn country.

Meanwhile, social media is buzzing with the arrival of the world’s largest cargo aircraft in Karachi as people share photos and videos on their Twitter and Facebook accounts.
