Doctors struggle with Nawaz’s fitness for travel – Pakistan

While former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif awaits his removal from the Exit Control List (ECL), doctors continued to fight for their platelet levels to reach the mark required to travel to London.

PML-N spokeswoman Marriyum Aurangzeb said a high dose of steroids had been administered to Nawaz in preparation for his planned departure tomorrow (Monday).

"Doctors have warned against repeated administration of such high doses of steroids," he said. "They can't run the risk of further damage by trying to raise their platelet levels."

Aurangzeb said the drop in platelet levels of the former prime minister continues to worry doctors. "They are ambivalent about how to approach their treatment. They are concerned that there may be further deterioration of their health."

The PML-N leader said that if Nawaz's health worsens further, it will be "almost impossible to take him abroad."

According to doctors, "every moment is precious" when it comes to treating Nawaz. "As time goes by, threats to your health increase. It is imperative that we send it abroad for immediate treatment," they said.

The Islamabad High Court had granted bail to Nawaz last week for eight weeks, suspending his seven-year sentence in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference for medical reasons. Previously, he had also obtained a bond in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case of the Lahore High Court for the same reasons.

Exit Delay

The government delayed Saturday the removal of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's name from the air exclusion list, forcing a change in his plan to go to London to receive treatment on Sunday.

Both the National Office of Responsibility (NAB) and the Ministry of Interior could not reach a decision regarding the removal of the name of the supreme PML-N from the ECL for one reason or another.

“Nawaz Sharif, 69, had to leave for London on Sunday (today) in the morning on a PIA flight with his brother Shehbaz Sharif. All the arrangements were finalized, but at the eleventh hour the PTI government played a trick and did not remove its name from the ECL, "said a source. Dawn. He recalled that the government had declared Friday that the removal of Nawaz's name from the air exclusion list was only a formality.

Nawaz's daughter, Maryam Nawaz, will not be able to accompany her father abroad, since she had to give her passport to secure her bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

The interior ministry refers the issue of ECL to NAB

The Interior Ministry issued a statement on Friday, saying it had received a formal request from Shehbaz for the removal of Nawaz's name from the ECL for reasons of health and treatment abroad. He said he had referred the matter to NAB. Shehbaz had also sent a similar request to NAB.

The ministry had said it also sent Nawaz's health reports received from Sharif Medical City, Lahore to the "Permanent Medical Board" for input and review.

The statement says that the ministry took all necessary measures taking into account the urgency of the matter as stated by Shehbaz Sharif in his request.

& # 39; Extremely critical & # 39;

On Thursday, Aurangzeb had said that an emergency meeting of the board of doctors treating Nawaz had been called after his platelets returned to a dangerous level.

In a statement, she said doctors had stated that Nawaz's condition was "extremely critical," adding that despite all possible treatments in Pakistan, her condition was not improving and it was recommended that she seek treatment abroad.

The former prime minister was transferred to an intensive care unit (ICU) established at his Jati Umra residence of the Services Hospital on Wednesday. The PML-N said that the specialized ICU was installed in the residence with "doctors' recommendations" and that Sharif Medical City doctors would be available 24 hours a day.

During the course of treatment at the Institute of Medical Sciences Services where he had been admitted for 16 days, the former prime minister had suffered an angina attack, in addition to complaints of bleeding gums and other parts, due to his fluctuating platelets .
