On Friday, 35 Malian soldiers were killed for military positions in northern Mali.

The attack is hitting another West African army, and in late September it was damaged by a deadly air strike that emphasized the reach and sophistication of the armed groups still active in the region.

The military said in a post on its Facebook page, "35 dead on the side of the Malian army."

At Mali's stronghold, groups with al Qaeda and Dash links were able to destabilize some of Najer and Burkina Faso across Sahel.

On September 30, 28 Malian soldiers were killed in a joint attack on two bases in central Mali. Despite the presence of the French and other international forces, they were out of control of the government.
