ISLAMABAD: Governor Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) made the first amendment to the constitution of the revised party in May this year, dissolving all its provincial chapters to replace them with regional bodies.
"With the approval of the central committee and Imran Khan, chairman of PTI, it is notified that all existing provincial organizations, including ICTs, were dissolved with immediate effect …", reads a notification issued on Saturday.
A separate notification was also issued containing details of the administrative decision for the effective and practical composition of national and international PTI chapters, in compliance with a decision taken by the central committee under the chairmanship of Mr. Khan.
According to the party, Punjab will be divided into four regions. The northern region of Punjab will comprise the administrative divisions of Rawalpindi and Sargodha, while the central region of Punjab will include the administrative divisions of Lahore and Gujranwala. The western region of Punjab will comprise the divisions of Faisalabad and Sahiwal and the southern region of Punjab will have the divisions of Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.
Also, Sindh has been divided into three regions. The Sukkur region will comprise the administrative divisions of Sukkur and Larkana, while the Hyderabad region will include the divisions of Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas. The Karachi region will comprise the administrative divisions of Karachi and Banbhore (Thatta).
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will have four regions. The Malakand and Hazara regions will comprise the administrative divisions of Malakand and Hazara, respectively, while the Peshawar region will comprise the divisions of Peshawar and Mardan. The southern KP region will comprise the divisions of Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.
Balochistan will also have four regions. The northern Balochistan region will include the divisions of Zhob and Sibbi. The central region of Balochistan will comprise the administrative division of Quetta. The Western Balochistan region will comprise the administrative divisions of Nasirabad, Kalat and Lasbela. The southern Balochistan region will comprise the divisions of Rakhshan and Makran. The Islamabad Capital Territory will consist of three organizational units.
The organization of international chapters (ICO) of the party has also been divided into five regions, including the regions of America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa.
In June of this year, the party had dissolved all its organizations, structures, wings and sub-organizations to pave the way for the formation of new bodies in line with the constitution approved in May.
All party bearers, except President Imran Khan, Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi and five others, ceased to hold office.
“All existing organizations, structures, wings and sub-organizations of the party at all levels in the provinces of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Baluchistan and in the areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Islamabad Capital The territory it was dissolved in consultation with the chief organizer with immediate effect, ”said the June 2 notification.
He added that all officials of the party office will cease to hold office, except Mr. Khan, Mr. Qureshi, Chief Organizer Saifullah Khan Niazi, Secretary General Arshad Dad, Secretary of Finance Sardar Azhar Tariq Khan, the Information Secretary Omar Sarfaraz Cheema and ICO Secretary Dr. Abdullah Riar
When a party spokesperson was contacted, he told Dawn that before the last general election, the PTI had provincial organizations in Sindh and Balochistan, while Punjab and KP had regional structures.
