Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University Scholarship: Round 2 Application

Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, commonly called APU, is a private institution located in southwestern Japan in Beppu City. APU offers a four-year bachelor's degree program in a unique multicultural learning environment. APU students currently participate in a lively community with a nearly 1: 1 ratio of international and Japanese students representing 80 countries / regions. All undergraduate programs at APU are taught in English as well as Japanese, so a diverse group can study on campus.

Ritz Mei Kanfu Scholarship

APU aims to create global leaders in all sectors and industries, contributing to freedom, peace, international mutual understanding and future forms of the Asia-Pacific region. We offer undergraduate programs in a variety of disciplines, including Asia Pacific Studies, International Business and Media Studies, Language Arts and Liberal Arts, such as Japanese Traditional Art. We offer special course subjects that can be added and changed each semester. Students choose their own classes and are not limited to their classes. However, since the curriculum has changed three times since its establishment in 2000, students can choose classes in each curriculum, depending on the year of enrollment. APU Tuition Reduction Scholarship

APU tuition reduction scholarships are offered in various rates at 30%, 50%, 65%, 80%, and 100% and cover the minimum credits required to graduate within the standard period. These scholarships, together with the Japanese Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEXT), are helping to support APU's ideals through financial contributions from domestic and international companies and individuals. APU tuition reduction scholarship applications will be released when you apply for APU. Scholarship applicants are those who have obtained the status of residence (visa status) in Japan before enrolling in APU. Those who are unable to obtain a student's status of residence until enrolling in the APU will be canceled the APU Tuition Reduction Scholarship. Scholarships will also be canceled if the student changes status to non-student status while studying at APU.

APU tuition reduction scholarship applications must be completed online according to the application guidelines.

The choice of APU tuition reduction scholarship is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to past academic performance, language skills, extracurricular activities, personal achievements, economic factors, applications and interviews. To strengthen your scholarship application, it is recommended that you submit official language test scores such as the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JPLT), the EJU, and the English as a Foreign Language Test (TOEFL). International Communication English (TOEIC), International Language Test System (IELTS) or EIKEN test. Successful applicants will be notified of the reduction by mail and online when they receive an application review.

Students who receive this scholarship must maintain good academic records, serve as role models for other students, and complete all assignments assigned to them. Scholarships will be canceled for those who show inappropriate behavior that is inappropriate for the beneficiary. Semester grades and other criteria are reviewed each semester to determine whether the beneficiary is eligible for scholarship renewal.

2020 tuition reduction scholarships for first year undergraduates are classified at the following rates:

  • 30% tuition reduction: About 390,000 yen per year, tuition fee of 910,000 yen per year is borne by the student.
  • 50% tuition reduction: about 650,000 yen per year, 650,000 yen per year for tuition fees.
  • 65% Tuition Fee Reduction: About 845,000 yen per year, about 455,000 yen per year tuition is borne by the student.
  • Tuition Fee 80% Reduction: Students are responsible for the annual tuition fee of about 260,000 yen at about 1,040,000 yen per year.
  • 100% tuition reduction: Approximately 1,300,000 yen per year, students do not bear the annual tuition fee.

For transfer students, the amount of scholarships for 2020 tuition reduction is as follows.

  • 30% tuition waiver: Students pay about 450,000 yen per year and about 1,050,000 yen per year.
  • 50% tuition waiver: Students pay about 750,000 yen a year, about 750,000 yen a year
  • 65% Tuition Fee Reduction: Approximately 975,000 yen per year and 525,000 yen per year are borne by the student.
  • 80% tuition reduction: About 1,200,000 yen per year and 300,000 yen per year for tuition.
  • 100% tuition reduction: Approximately 1,500,000 yen per year, students do not bear the annual tuition fee.

Graduate students are also eligible for APU tuition reduction scholarships. The annual tuition fees for 2020, which students are required to pay for tuition reduction scholarships, are classified according to the percentage of awarded scholarships as follows:

  • 30% tuition waiver: Approximately 1,050,000 yen for Asia-Pacific research graduate (master and doctoral) students and approximately 1,400,000 yen for graduate business (MBA) students.
  • 50% Tuition Reduction: Approx. 750,000 yen for Asia Pacific Research Graduate (Master and Doctorate) students, Approx.1,000,000 yen for Graduate Business School (MBA) students.
  • 65% Tuition Reduction: Approx. 525,000 yen for Asia-Pacific research graduate (master and doctoral) students, approximately 700,000 yen for graduate business (MBA) students.
  • 80% Tuition Fee Reduction: Approx. 300,000 yen for Asia-Pacific research graduate (master and doctoral) students, approx. 400,000 yen for graduate business (MBA) students.
  • 100% Tuition Reduction: This scholarship includes both annual and annual tuition fees for students of the Asia Pacific Research Graduate (Master and Doctorate) and Graduate School of Business (MBA).

International Student Academic Incentive Scholarship

The National Student Academic Incentive Scholarship is for students applying to APU who are struggling for academic reasons. Students can apply for scholarships and receive screening results before applying to APU. Students who receive scholarships and attend APU can receive scholarships after enrollment.

The amount awarded for each scholarship is half of the regular tuition fee. Scholarships are offered to individuals for up to four years of tuition. Eligibility will be determined each semester to determine whether the student will continue to receive scholarships for the following school year and continue until the end of the standard period for completion of the degree.

National Student Academic Incentive Scholarship applications for the 2020 school year will be accepted in four rounds:

  • Primary: Intakes August 16-28, 2019, April 2020 and September 2020
  • Secondary: Intakes from October 11 – 23, 2019, April 2020 and September 2020
  • Tertiary: Intake from December 6-18, 2019, April 2020 and September 2020
  • Round 4: Ingestion in September 2020 only April 3 – 15, 2019

In addition to the APU Tuition Reduction Scholarship and the National Student Academic Incentive Scholarship, there are a variety of scholarships available to international students. Students can apply for this scholarship after entering APU. This scholarship, together with Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), encourages self-motivated students to achieve remarkable results in their activities in favor of several individuals, national and international companies, and municipalities.
