PM Imran, US Senator Sanders call attention to India’s ‘unacceptable’ actions in occupied Kashmir – World

Prime Minister Imran Khan and United States Senator Bernie Sanders on Sunday raised the plight of the cashmere, who have been living under a confinement for four weeks in occupied Kashmir, while heading separately to the 56th Convention of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA).

Speaking at the event, Sanders, a Democratic presidential candidate for the 2020 US elections, called the Indian movement to annex occupied Kashmir as "unacceptable."

"I am also deeply concerned about the situation in Kashmir, where the Indian government revoked Kashmir's autonomy, took strong measures against dissent and instituted a communications blackout."

"Repression in the name of security is also denying the access of the people of Kashmir to medical care. Even many respected doctors in India have recognized that restrictions imposed by the Indian government on travel threaten the vital care that patients need ", He said. .

"The blockade of communications must be lifted immediately and the United States government must speak openly in support of international humanitarian law and a peaceful UN-backed resolution that respects the will of the Kashmir people," said the senator.

Prime Minister Imran in his speech, through a video link, spoke about the need to understand the Hindu nationalist party Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which is said to be a parent organization of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

"I am doing my best, but from the ISNA platform you have to make a concerted effort so that people understand this phenomenon that has taken over India. You have to make Western societies understand the RSS."

He said the RSS feast believed in the racial supremacy of the Hindu civilization and the ethnic cleansing of the Muslims of India, and urged people to investigate and know their origins.

"After the elections recently won by the BJP, they have returned as a stronger force. We are talking about a country of more than one billion people with nuclear weapons taken by an extreme ideology."

"What the Nazi party showed was that a small group, highly organized and ideologically motivated, could take over a country."

"That is what has happened in India. An extreme ideology has taken over India.

"The government of BJP […] wants to change the demography; change a province of Muslim majority in a province of Muslim minority by attracting settlers to change demographics. This is a violation of Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention. You can't change the demographics of an occupied land. "

"We believe that what is happening in Kashmir is that RSS thugs have been released among the population," said the prime minister, urging ISNA to raise awareness about what was happening in occupied Kashmir.

"I fear that this ideology will not stop here; they have let a genie out of a bottle. It will not come back; this genius of hatred, of Hindu supremacy.

"Not only Muslims will be in danger.

"We fear in Pakistan that we are not dealing with a rational government in India," Prime Minister Imran said, adding: "We believe that the kind of oppression they will do in Kashmir and that they are already doing will have to divert attention to the world from Pakistan. and we believe that as they did in February, they will take some kind of action, an attack in Pakistan. "

Prime Minister Imran said he had asked the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (ICO) to play its role. In addition, he said he would raise the issue at the United Nations General Assembly.

He urged ISNA to make people realize what was happening in India.
