ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated on Tuesday that his Pakistani government Tehreek-i-Insaf was striving to provide all possible facilities to entrepreneurs to accelerate economic activity in the country.
"The government is giving top priority to the ease of doing business, as it is imperative to accelerate economic activity," the prime minister said while speaking with a delegation of leading industrialists and businessmen here at the Prime Minister's Office.
The government was focusing on generating commercial activity as it would create employment opportunities and reduce poverty, he added.
Khan invited industrialists and businessmen to present their proposals to the government to improve the country's economy. "The policy and planning process to improve the economy would be carried out according to the proposals," he said.
The community of companies and merchants presented a series of proposals to the government for the promotion of investment, the increase of fiscal revenues, institutional reforms, the expansion of the fiscal network, the preparation of the annual budget, the development of capacities and the Creation of employment opportunities.
The meeting deliberated on various proposals presented by the business community.
The prime minister ordered the members and advisors of his cabinet to review these proposals and continue the process of consultation with the business community.
He said the government will continue the consultation process in all sectors of the economy and that regular meetings will be held with members of the business community.
The business community expressed full confidence in the government's economic policies and praised the government economic team for their efforts to improve the economy.
The meeting was attended by, among others, Mian Mohammad Manshsa, Bashir Ali Mohammad, Ali Habib, Shahid Hussain, Khalil Sattar, Saqib Shirazi, Shahid Abdullah, Tariq Sehgal, Arif Habib, Musaddaq Zulqarnain and Sikandar Mustafa.
Minister of Planning and Development Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Minister of Maritime Affairs.
Ali Haider Zaidi, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Trade Advisor Abdur Razak Dawood, Institutional Reform Advisor Dr. Ishrat Hussain and Chairman of the Federal Revenue Board Syed Shabbar Zaidi were also present at the meeting .
The PTI-led government has met with several members of the business community and local and international investors to attract investments in the country. Earlier, Hafeez Shaikh addressed the first Capital Market Regulators of the Regional Economic Cooperation of Central Asia (Carec)
Forum in Islamabad, where he said the government was working hard to facilitate doing business in the country by providing maximum facilities to local and international investors.
"We are working hard to facilitate business and the number of companies is gradually improving," he said.
He invited investors to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the government, saying they would feel comfortable while doing business here.
