QUETTA: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Sania Nishtar has sought the federal government's association with the provincial governments for the success of Pakistan's flagship program Tehreek-i-Insaf Ehsaas.
She visited the capitals of Balochistan and Sindh on Sunday and during meetings with representatives of the two provinces informed them about Ehsaas' plans.
Dr. Nishtar, who is also president of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), held meetings with BISP officials in Quetta and Pishin.
Urging officials to raise awareness about Ehsaas among people, he said the program had been designed to alleviate the country's poverty.
Pishin officials informed Dr. Nishtar about the BISP function in the district and informed her about her problems. He promised to solve his problems with priority.
In Quetta, he met with the governor of Balochistan, the retired judge Amanullah Yasinzai. He also plans to meet with Prime Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani on Monday.

According to a press release, Dr. Nishtar attended a session organized by the governor of Sindh in Karachi during which she informed the members of the Sindh cabinet about Ehsaas.
"We all have to work together to strengthen the federation and exploit synergy, regardless of political differences, especially when it comes to the welfare of those who need it most," he said.
Leading members of the philanthropic community were present.
During her presentation, Dr. Nishtar explained in detail what Ehsaas could offer Sindh and how she can partner with the government and non-government sector.
He invited all public and private representatives of Sindh to work together with the Ehsaas program for the elevation of people.
He stressed that Ehsaas was a national program and offered many things to the provinces, including Ehsaas single window programs (Kifalat, Tahafuz, National Poverty Graduation Initiative, free online resources).
She said the Challenge of Innovation in Solutions that Ehsaas would launch for the creation of livelihoods and social protection would impact the entire country.
Dr. Nishtar described the areas where collaboration with the provincial government was sought, particularly in the areas of the Insaf card, the consolidation of online portals in delegated subject areas.
He especially stressed the need for the provinces to implement the Governance and Integrity Policy, and be associated in the implementation of Pillar I (governance) and Pillar III (human capital development) of Ehsaas.
Dr. Nishtar also held a detailed meeting with the media staff at the Governor's House and answered his questions about the Ehsaas program, clarifying the scale, breadth and diversity of Ehsaas.
Dr. Nishtar together with the secretary of the Division of Poverty Relief and Social Security, Shaista Sohail, visited the office of Saylani Welfare International Trust, a charity that focuses on the social welfare of the poor and distressed.
