BEIJING: A Pakistani businessman, along with three other foreigners, received the first work visa valid for five years by the administration of the Chinese city of Yiwu in Zhejiang Province.
Mohammad Arif and three citizens of Afghanistan, Jordan and Iraq were the first lot that received the First Class work permit from the Administration of Entry and Exit of the Yiwu Municipal Public Security Office Office under the new visa policy.
Before this policy, employers used to receive visas for only one year.
Speaking to APPMohammad Arif said he and his family settled in Yiwu and imported several products from Pakistan.
He said the local government had promised to issue the five-year permit to 200 businessmen, and that he was part of the first lot that issued the Yiwu administration's permit.
Yiwu is the largest consumer goods purchase center in the world with an area of 4.7 million square meters. It has 70,000 positions and sells 1.7 million products of different types.
More than 400,000 foreign businessmen come to Yiwu every year, and more than 13,000 foreign businessmen from more than 100 countries and regions reside in the city.
