‘Joker’ early reviews are mostly raves – does it reinvent the superhero movie?


"Joker" is transformed into a savvy move. Lowering the stakes and raising expectations, the latest screen depiction of Batman's most creative fertile villain already scores as a wave of first critics.

"Joker" premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday, and the early reviewers' reactions were mostly positive. Critics will ultimately depend on whether the Philips team actually "recreated" or at least "recreated" the so-called cartoon. But that will hardly matter.

In the dominant years of record-breaking "Avengers: End Games", "Captain Marvel" and "Spider-Man: Distant House", many reviewers will welcome Scorsese-influenced character research as an artistic palatal cleaner.
