Four promoted to lieutenant generals – Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Four major generals of the Pakistan army have been promoted to the rank of lieutenant general.

According to Public Relations between Services (ISPR), those promoted are Division General Muhammad Aamer, Division General Muhammad Chiragh Haider, Division General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum and Division General Khalid Zia.

Division General Muhammad Aamer is currently serving as general officer in command of Division 10 (Lahore), while Division General Muhammad Chiragh Haider is currently the general director of military training. Division General Nadeem Ahmad Anjum is the Commander of Quetta University Personnel and Division General Khalid Zia is the Commanding General Officer (GOC) 33 Division (Quetta).

Ascended officers must assume their new positions after the retirement of three general lieutenants in the last week of the current month. Another vacancy will occur in the last week of November when the Chairman of the Joint Committee of Chiefs of the Personnel Committee (CJCSC), Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat, is removed from office.

The three 3-star generals who will retire this month include former ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa, who currently serves as commander of the Southern Command (Quetta), the President of the National Defense University (NDU), Lieutenant General Aamer Riaz and the Pakistan Artillery Factory (POF)) president of Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali.
