Former Punjab Assembly member Parveen Sikandar Gill was found dead at her home in the Naseerabad area of Lahore, police said Thursday.
Authorities said the former MPA, who lived alone at home, had rope marks around her neck and expressed suspicion that she had been killed.
A first informative report of the incident has not yet been registered.
The 64-year-old woman began her political career in the late 1970s and was a member of the local government in Lahore. Gill was elected to the Punjab Assembly on the Pakistan-Quaid Muslim League ballot in 2002. She was also secretary of the women's wing of the Pakistan Hockey Federation and also served as vice president of the Punjab Olympic Association.
