FIA Cybercrime Wing arrests 2 men in Karachi for harassment and extortion – Pakistan

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cybercrime Wing (CCW) Karachi arrested two men on Thursday for alleged involvement in harassment and extortion by using images of a woman.

A team made up of the CCW deputy director Karachi, after the victim's complaint, arrested the two men and recorded a first investigation report against them under sections 20, 21 and 24 of the Electronic Crime Prevention Act , 2016 (PECA) and sections 109 and 419 of the Criminal Code of Pakistan.

A technical investigation team successfully identified the two defendants and found them in possession of many objectionable images and videos of the victim.

According to the victim, the main defendant "physically harassed her", allegedly extorted a total of Rs87,000 through Easypaisa and threatened to release the objectionable content to her father.

The CCW investigation team, in the initial technical analysis of the two defendants' digital and social media accounts, discovered that both culprits stored and disseminated the images on social networks.

The main defendant not only stored the images in his Google unit and his email, but also uploaded them to pornographic websites and shared them with different people.

Meanwhile, the second defendant shared the images with several people through Instagram. According to the team, the images and videos found in the possession of the main defendants were also shared with hundreds of people through WhatsApp groups.
