The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing arrested two people in Lahore in response to separate complaints of women harassed through "objectionable" photos and videos, emerged Monday.
According to the FIA, a person filed a complaint about the harassment that his sister had experienced through objectionable content shared on WhatsApp.
Following the complaint, an investigation team was established that was able to retrieve a mobile phone with objectionable content related to women. The cell phone was placed in FIA custody through a seizure memo and the suspect was arrested.
A case was registered under Sections 20 (crimes against the dignity of a natural person), 21 (crimes against modesty) and 24 (cyberbullying) of the Electronic Crime Prevention Act (Peca), 2016.
According to an FIA press release, the investigation has been entrusted to deputy inspector Uzma Aslam and further investigations are under way.
Similarly, a second complaint was filed by a woman who said another suspect had harassed her with objectionable photos and videos.
"The team successfully recovered a mobile of the accused and objectionable material of [the] the victim was found available, "said the FIA.
The suspect was arrested after a case was registered against him under Sections 20, 21 and 24 of Peca 2016 and Section 109 (incitement) of the Pakistan Criminal Code (PPC).
The investigation of this case has been assigned to inspector Sabahat Noor.
