Iran could soon release a British tanker arrested after the completion of the legal steps, state television reported on Sunday.
"I hope that the procedures will be completed soon and that this tanker will be released," Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi told the station.
In July, Iran confiscated a British tanker near the Strait of Hormuz for alleged maritime violations, two weeks after British forces stopped an Iranian tanker near Gibraltar accused of bringing oil to Syria in violation of European Union sanctions.
The Iranian oil tanker was released later. Iran released seven of the 23 crew members of the British flag tanker this week.
