Data Foundry expands north Houston data center

Austin-based Data Foundry announced Tuesday that it will add 27,000 square feet to its North Houston data center campus.

This allows the company's Greenspoint district campus to grow to 377,000 square feet and respond to the growing demand in Houston's healthcare, energy and manufacturing sectors. Innovations in Internet of Things technology and data science are driving the sector to find data center space with news releases.

Data Foundry provides a co-location where companies rent space for servers in third-party data center facilities. The company provides in-house staff of certified technicians, engineers and electrical technicians to keep these servers up and running.

Greenspoint's Data Foundry location can withstand 185 mph winds and can climb over 500 years of flooding and continue to operate during storms such as Hurricane Harvey or Tropical Storm Imelda. It also provides office space, lockers, showers, washing machines and dryers, lounges and kitchens for both Data Foundry and tenant employees who must remain in the data center during storms.

Data Foundry has been operating data centers in the Houston area since 2002. There are currently two Houston data centers, and Greenspoint expansion is expected to begin in Q4.
