AIOU takes new initiative of launching ten BS programs

ISLAMABAD – AIOU (Allama Iqbal Open University) has launched 10 BS (4 year) programs, taking into account emerging academic trends and the needs of market-based students.

The decision on this effect was made by Dr. Zia-Ul-Qayyum, a professor at the University General Assembly, on the recommendation of the University Academic Committee.

Ten programs are Library and Information Science, Gender and Women Studies, Islamic Studies, Arabic, Public Communication, Urdu, English, Pakistani Studies, Accounting and Finance and Education Design and Technology.

According to Director Admissions, October 15 is the last date to receive an application for admission to these programs offered nationwide. Eight programs were introduced with the Open Distance Learning system, and the two programs, accounting and finance and education design and technology, are based on mixed and e-learning modes.

For the first time in recent AIOU history, a comprehensive annual academic calendar has been set up to facilitate the entire learning system, including admissions, examinations, and book mailing procedures.

Separate dates have been set for mathematics / intermediate, postgraduate and post-graduate admission and exam preparation to facilitate students during the spring and fall semester and to bring transparency to the entire course. Increasingly, digitized online systems were implemented to provide efficient services to students at the door, in line with new modern requirements.

Meanwhile, 49 regional offices were authorized to provide the best academic facilities and learning environment to about 1.4 million students.

Under the vision of the vice-president, the university's academic standing in terms of credibility of degrees and certificates has been improved and upgraded by all possible means, especially through the experience and academic practice of international institutions.
