Action being taken against illegal increase in school fees: LHC told

LAHORE – School Education Minister Punjab Muhammad Mehmood on Thursday informed the Lahore High Court (LHC) that measures were being taken to raise illegal fees from various educational institutions.

The secretary issued a statement in front of Judge Shyde Wahid, who is pleading for the illegal increase in private school fees.

He announced on September 14 that a public official meeting was convened to review the matter. He submitted that the petitioner had no restrictions on attending school classes.

The secretary said Wednesday that at the court's request for his proceedings, he did not receive information in a proper manner about the court order.

The court then instructed the secretary to take action against the responsible person and postponed further proceedings while seeking the report by September 16.

A student named Ehtisham Sarwar filed a petition that the law school was raising money from his parents in violation of the Supreme Court order by excessively raising tuition fees without justifiable payment.

He ordered on June 12 that the SC could only improve tuition fees in accordance with Section 7-A of the Punjab Private Educational Institutions (Promotion and Regulation) (Revised) Act 2017.
