The total number of arrests has reached 20 and all suspects belong to Chunian. Because of the number of arrests, it seems that the police have been directly involved in the interrogations instead of relying on the investigation, which did not need arrests, at least at such a massive level.

Around 300 farmers under the banner of Kisan Ittehad organized a protest rally near Chunian Sugar Mills against the failure of the police to discover the culprits despite the lapse of a week of the incident. Tabbasum Pervez led the protesters who held banners and banners.

Police also claimed to have performed a DNA analysis of more than 450 suspects. The suspects had been selected from the towns of Ghousiabad, Pir Jahanian, Tambowala and Allahabad, based on the census lists that the police had collected a few days ago. The suspects also included close relatives of the victims.

In the case of Zainab, about two years ago, the main source to reach the author was the DNA profile and the culprit was identified among more than 1,200 DNA profiles.

According to the police, evidence was being conducted of the suspects belonging to the age group of 20 to 40 years. They said the criteria for calling someone suspicious were the 11 questions they would ask, claiming that the police did not want to bother innocent people.

Investigators had begun to geo-fence the site where the bodies were recovered and the place from which the victims were kidnapped.

District police officer Zahid Marwat, the head of the joint investigation team, canceled a press conference on Sunday in which he was supposed to share information about the case.
