Strong job growth, low unemployment, continues in Texas

According to the Texas Workforce Commission, Texas employers added more than 30,000 jobs in July, with the state unemployment rate always low.

Employers added 35,200 jobs in July, with more than 323,000 jobs added each year. The gains in July were driven by leisure and hospitality, construction and health services.

The unemployment rate was 3.4 percent. The national unemployment rate for July is 3.7{7be40b84a6a43fc4fae13304fce9a2695859798abfc41afd127b9f8b21c5f9c5}.

Houston employers added 2,900 jobs in July, adding 89,000 jobs per year. The local unemployment rate fell to 4{7be40b84a6a43fc4fae13304fce9a2695859798abfc41afd127b9f8b21c5f9c5} from 4.5{7be40b84a6a43fc4fae13304fce9a2695859798abfc41afd127b9f8b21c5f9c5} in July 2018.
