Jamyang Tsering Namgyal was born on Sunday, August 4, 1985 (34 years old; As 2019) In Ladakh, Matho Village. He received primary education at Leh's Central Buddhist Institute.
He holds a bachelor's degree in art from Jammu University. When Jamyang was in college, he was president of the All Ladakh Student Association (ALSA) for a year.

Jamyang joined BJP in 2012 when he was in college. On January 1, 2013 he BJP spokesman and secretary in Ladakh. In 2014, Jamyang was in charge of the campaign for the Tuwangstan Chewang, the cause of the former House of Representatives from Ladakh. He successfully handled it and when Yang Tu Cha Cha was elected as MP, Jamyang was appointed as his personal assistant. 
On November 3, 2015, Jamyang objected to the election of the Ladakh Borough Development Committee (LAHDC) in the Mart Marslan constituency. He won record margins and was elected to LAHDC. December 1, 2015, Jamyang Appointed additional media minister of BJP in Jammu and Kashmir. On June 19, 2018, when LAHDC's Executive Counselor (Chairman) resigned, Jamyang was elected Chairman of LAHDC. By then his popularity had grown significantly, and he was not opposed.
