Cricket South Africa extended the Mzansi Super League's deal with Global Sports Commerce for another four years.
Headquartered in Singapore but with a branch in Johannesburg, GSC was an official commercial and broadcasting partner of the inauguration of MSL in 2018.The new contract, which runs from 2019 to 2023, gives GSC all commercial rights to MSL except teams. Make GSC the official broadcast and digital rights holder outside of South Africa.
GSC has various partnerships with global and Indian brands and has also participated in broadcasting the final edition of the Pakistan Super League.
But close to home, the CSA confirmed that local broadcast rights for the second season of MSL remain with SABC, South Africa. Last month, the broadcaster secured $ 3.2 billion (about $ 212 million) bailout from the government, but because it provides little or no commercial value to the CSA, overseas partnerships have become more important.
Thabang Moroe, Chief Executive Officer of CSA, said, "We are very happy to expand our partnership with GSC." "They are important global brands that trust our administration, governance and players for a considerable period of time.
"As its name suggests, GSC has a worldwide sports presence as a major player in sports event organizations around the world and already has considerable experience in South African sports through investments in Megapro and Megaview." "They have contributed greatly to getting MSL to win last year and will play an important role once again based on the development of MSL 2.0."
"GSC is happy to be with MSL," said Muralidharan. "We see this as a milestone sports asset in Africa as the only and exclusive international commercial partner across television, digital and event sponsors.
"The GSC product line, including its South African-based partners Megapro and Megaview, will bring global technical expertise to the event through advanced technology in television / content creation, event presentation and immersive fan experience."
